I agree, crappie ciller, I too am trying to listen/learn and figure out how to get as many thumps as I can. I'll keep you posted as to how my luck turns. Merry Christmas!

    Cc,

"Next year my resolution is to listen to those who know what they're doing!"

I've tried that, but when I see someone hammering 'em, I figure they know what they're doing, and try to sneak up on them to get their secret. Thus far, I've only got a couple of knots on the noggin.

Actually, Cc, Most of my good knowledge has come from older and wiser heads. They usually are the quickest to give advice. However, now that I'm a geezer, it gets harder and harder to find older heads; Wiser heads? I seem to find them everywhere.

I was thinking about heading out tomorrow morning but man I don't know now. I'm stuck in the kayak until spring.

While out scouting for ducks this afternoon, I was up around the big creek area on the verdigris it looked like it might hold a few crappie. I was wondering if anyone fishes this area this time of year or fishes it at all and does any good that could give me a few pointers to get me started.

    Thanks

I fished Saturday from 11am to around 5pm. The walkways to the docks were submerged. I couldn't believe how high the water was. The Redbud boat ramp was only about three feet to the water's edge. We caught five crappie the entire day, all in the first pile we tried. We tried about five other locations that normally produce very well this time of the year, and they just weren't there. I'm sure the major increase in water level and the drop in water temps (surface water temp was around 45 degrees Saturday) has really confused the fish (or the fisherman). Looking forward to better, and slightly warmer fishing days.

X2 on better and warmer fishing days and thanks for the report Kyle. The water level seems stuck around 11-12' high which means for now I am stuck on land as probably most of us have been for about two weeks. Any others braving oologah's high water?

That's a good point that I had not considered TC! But are you catching fish?
