redear, nice catch. I did the same in Hopsons? creek just north of the bridge. Man, largest I've ever caught. Not many, 7, but all were over a pound and a couple near 2 lbs, but never weighed them. Caught the 1st one on a waxworm, and immediately, switched to worms. Wind got up and had to leave to be able to get to where I put in. Many thanks...

redearhoosier: I'm with ya, surely Lowrance and Humminbird will bring something out equal or better. I have gone back and forth over the years regarding brands for my personal use. Was a diehard numminbird user for well over 20 years, then made the switch to Lowrance. Pros and cons to each. Once you commit to a brand I like to keep things in the...

Ask alphahawk how the trout slayer rod compares to the tick ice cube. It’s only $50 and a great rod I think.

I believe Rodney (Slabeye) has the 9" screen Garmin ... and it was plenty big enough to see what was going on. The Livescope system is more than just a transducer : you need a place to mount the "command unit", too. (big black box in picture) There's also a thread in the Electronics Forum about the extra battery draw of the...

Didn't know it was yours. I woulda thunk it was a Northern vehicle. Glad you found it before it cost you your boat. BTW, welcome to the boards. :)

I second the recommendation for the Shakespeare ultralights, they are cheap and sensitive and very light. however the fiberglass yellow eagle claw ultralights are the rods i would run if i had a choice, they are the standard for cheap but good ultralight/light spinning rods. I have broke several of the Shakespeare rods below the tip, never on...

I got talked into a crappie only trip by a guy i have been teaching walleye fishing. Never fished the lake before but had 4 rods (14' and 12' southern crappie rods) rigged up with 1/32 and 1/16 oz jigs. Got out and immediately checked the water temp. Saw 57 degrees and knew i just needed to longline, cover water and get the lay of the land. Left...
