I would love to see some of you Pro's to give a seminar on using fishfinders. That would help more weekend fishermen than any other type seminars.
Fact be known, they (bps,ETC.) probably got these idiot display programs so we want be using the buttons too much. They can resale the displays if they ain't wore out. You push a button on these displays and they just beep. Want do anything, so we quit pushing buttons. Maybe we should all just start pushing buttons and beeping the heck out of them display units. Just a thought..Beeps are free. Well, they were last week.

I was going to try and stay out of discussions like this but I keep grinding my teeth. Understanding the side scan is easy. Just as a very basic, you see a blob over there, there's some thing over there to check out. Soon you get to where, oh this is deeper water by the size of the water column. Then it's, oh look at that boat on the bottom. The hardest part about using these is deciding whether or not to go back and check out what you just saw about 20 dozen times a trip.

Not everyone understands these electronic's. We look to the people who do understand them to try and help us better understand them.
I guess I better understand things with hand on training.
I think these elictronic's makers should sell a DVD showing how to work them better for people like myself. Maybe they could show the elictronic's from the boat then show you from under the water what is there. So we see what things look like from in the boat.

I can't agree more.. Folks, I am no guru at reading modern electronics.. But I found side imaging very easy to interpret after I got my unit and played with it a little. The first thing I did was put the boat in the water and went out and ran side scan on some stuff that I was already familiar with (brush that I had put in etc.)... After that it fell in place. Don't be afraid of it... The best way to learn it is to get out there and PLAY WITH IT...
What I would suggest is if you going to invest a couple of G's into these units and you feel intimidated by them, then why not invest a couple hundred into a guided trip and learn to use them. I am sure some of the guides would be glad to show you how to use the SI units. Cheaper than college.
I could show you, but I don't work as cheap as these guides.
