Very nice whities there. Seems like they grow nice ones here in OK. I have not caught nearly as many at Canton, but the size is very similar. Might be worth the $5.00 to head down to Carl Blackwell again.
Really fun post Swollen! What a great mixed bag!

Scott....Blackwell is becoming a real good lake for fishing. a lot of quality fish in there from cats to crappie. The shad population has exploded in the lake and fish are really starting to grow. The fish house will be picking up soon if your bank fisherman, if your a boater, the main lake always has several spots to catch nice fish.
all the fish in the main lake on any type of structure? I fish the enclosed dock a couple times but I never have taken a boat out there.if I keep seeing these good fishing reports and I'm going to leave the hunting stuff put up and keep fishing ! I'm only seeing good deer on camera after shooting hours
Josh, step away from the ledge. Quit catching trash and lets go catch some craps.

lol, shoot, those trash fish fight real good and is nice to change it up a little and they dont taste bad at all either. This next week I am gonna target the cats on Keystone I think. Buddies are slaying the blues in the 5 to 20 pound range, getting a two man limit(30 fish) pretty early in the day using rod and reel with shad.
Sparky...the crappie were in brush and holding tight to structure. The "trash fish" are on flats in 16' or laying on the edge of drop offs. Sandies are in large schools of well over 100 fish. Hybrids are in schools of 20 and 30 fish on drop offs but on flats they are in smaller groups. Tried using threadfin shad as bait and also threw Mikes Custom Jigs in Silver Glitter head and Pearl tail, and the jigs outfished the shad 10-1. With this cold front coming, they may move into deeper water off the flats, but I think they will remain on the drops offs for now. When the wind was blowing hard, the fish had the shad up in the coves where the wind was blowing and I tore them up on a crank bait running 2-6 foot deep. If the wind wasn't blowing, they were in the coves at daylight for 30 min and then back out to deeper water. Hope it helps if you choose to target the fish for a while.

Really nice pics, Swollen. We just got back from four months of haying for my brother and slaying brookies, cutthroats, rainbows, and browns in Montana (plus an occasional sucker or 10-12 pound carp). The last trip to the mountains was on a Razr through snow, boulders, and downed trees up a goat trail to a lake loaded with the best-tasting cutthroats ever. Dry flies, bead heads, and spoons killed them. We kept enough to eat and let the rest go so we can get bigger ones next year.
Now, we're looking to get back to crappie and "trash" fish. Your pictures are providing plenty of inspiration. Hope to get together with you this year.
Welcome back Eric!!! Hope the trip was a great one, sounds like it sure was. man, i miss catching those Brookies and Cutthroat, they can offer a great time when combined with a ultra light rod and a tub of night crawlers.I will text you my number just incase it got lost in your travels, and we will definitly hook up. If you have the pics to share, I wouldnt mind seeing a thread full of pics from the last 4 months!!!

Oh yeah I love catching them on my 9' ultra light I have. Feel like I'm deep sea fishing!
