Does anyone ever trap their own minnows out of Thunderbird? I'm interested in where a good spot to leave one over night would be. The reason I want to try it, is so I can do some super early morning fishing, but the places that I know of which sell minnows don't open until 7.

A few of weeks ago my lower unit housing cracked. I've spent the past week trying to combine parts into a different lower unit housing. Been extremely frustrating not being able to get out there as the Spring bite starts up. Hopefully, I'll have my boat fixed soon and will be able to report on the bite at Thunderbird. Until then, let me know how the crappie are biting.
The best time to fish is whenever you can.

149th and Choctaw has minnows before 7. Don't know what their hours are but I've been there at 6:30 am or earlier. HWY 9 gas station towards the western side of the lake has them earlier than 7 too. Now the T-Bird casino gas station place doesn't open until 7.

tried for a little while on Saturday at twin bridges. not even a bite. a couple other boats were there as well and I didn't see any caught. ran around the lake quite a bit. drank a few beers. was very nice out until the clouds rolled in. was going to stop on a couple of brush piles but the wind was pushin me around so didn't mess with it long. I am pretty sure I saw SNaylor out there fishing the grate by the dam. looked to me like he had a nice basket full. I was going to stop and say hey maybe join him but there was someone else tied up there as well so didn't want to intrude. water was 55 on the main lake and got as warm as 57 in some coves. should be bustin loose here pretty quick

Bank fished the north side near denver corner from 10 am - 2 pm Saturday. Tried jigs, spinners, and minnows under float. Caught 2 decent LMB with the minnows, one right after the other around noon. No luck besides that.
