The fishing at T-Bird is terrible right now. There is no excuse for it to be this way either. The lake is stable and air has been stable for days. I haven't talked to or seen anyone that has been hauling them in yet this year. Just a few here or there. Sandbass was excellent for a while though. Went out this morning and water was smooth, wind calm and air temp warm. Little Axe dock had tons of small crappie at the top but nothing big and nothing would bite. Went of the dam and managed a 7" and a 10". Both caught on chartreuse and black minnow mind'r. I was only there a little under 2 hours and left because I'm not going to beg them to bite. T-Bird was good to me in years past but I believe this is the last time I am going to fish this lake until I see results being had. I will make the extra drive and fish a lake that is better.

Still have been having no luck with the crappie, either. Tried jigging shad swimbaits and live minnows under the twin bridges and various other points in that area to no avail. Hooked into a couple sandies, lmb, and small saugeye, though. Stopped over at the north side ramp/pier over toward the end of alameda (can't remember the name) Friday around 9 am and there were 6-8 folks using minnows under floats. Bite seemed to be alright actually, but most the crappie being caught were in the 7-8" zone. One couple had a basket with that looked like ~20 fish, more than a few of which were 10"+. Didn't chat with them so I can't say how long they'd been at it.

This time last year things were really popping off. It's starting to bum me out... but it's got to turn on sometime. Right....?

While I'm posting though, can anyone clue me in on how I might go about targeting big saugeye on Tbird this time of year? I've had good luck on ~3" swimbaits and crankbaits in the fall but Spring has always been a little light on saugeye for me. I'm bank fishing, btw. Thanks!

I've caught a fair amount of Saugeye this year when after Crappie. Most have been below limit size, tho. If I was bank bound I would concentrate on windy points. The point just south of the sailboat club usually has Saugeye around it. Best for me tho' is trolling jig and Kalin's 3-5" grub or walleye type crankbait.

Out here at the moment. Thinkn bout putting in somewhere but it is packed with incosiderate boaters and jet fleas. Was out yesterday and had atleast 5 boats come fish within 20 yards from me while in my kayak. Can't really enjoy a day out on the water due to this problem.

Like I said in a previous post I was tearing them up two years ago the 1st week of May. It was around May 5th. I can still happen but I see storms later this week. I just remember in years past T-Bird produced more. I'll still be looking for a new lake to fish especially since I'll be boat bound.

The water is still a bit on the chilly side Nip. I was reading on average 66 degree wt while out yesterday after. A few coves are reading a lil bit higher around 70 but that's in the back of them. Sparky I had a few close calls yesterday of boat full blast on plane coming at me then turning at the last min kind of sketchy then the big wake they throw at me don't helf matters much either.
