Yesterday was deer season prep work.

These folks around here about their high school football. The LHSAA won't let me into their meetings to discuss issues for some reason.
Now, some fellas are stating their new proposal to submit in November for a potential vote at the LHSAA Convention. They'll split the post season based upon parish population and the school's proximity to major cities. What are the divisions for currently? Class 5A, 4A, 3A, etc? That is based upon the school's population, not if they are in a close proximity to a Walmart.
Bad enough that the post season play is split between the private catholic schools and public schools as is. Those private school boys get a bye in the first two or three rounds in the playoffs and they are all proud of themselves winning a "state championship", us public school boys battle it out.
Another thing, both my kids graduated from a public school - I insisted. Both are college educated engineers now, it's what you teach at home. That's what I have to say about that.
When it comes to high school football, not concerned if Johnny is taking his vitamin on the couch. That's what I have to say about that - and, I'm sticking to it.

I dunno Randy. Home raising helps and builds character but there is a difference in quality in schools up this way. I hauled my son thirty miles to a college prep school until he was old enough to drive. He ended up with a full ride on academics. And was prepared for college. He has a 3.98 gpa going into his senior year at Alabama. Two of his buddies from the local public school had the same scholar ships on academics and both lost them due to not being prepped to study and being responsible on attending class. Both came from top knotch families. One is a preacher son and one is from a very stable Christian family. My thoughts is its a combination of home life and school life.

I understand what you are saying Lee. I believe in a solid STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) education, whatever it takes. That's what I do for a living. A 3.98 GPA student who studies psychology or gender identification means nothing to me, regardless if they are a preacher's kid, or from a solid Christian background. I'll take a 2.3 GPA student, who knows the business (and working hard full-time going to school), in a heartbeat. I have a bunch of them right now. Some don't have the opportunity to be toted back and forth to a fine school wearing special clothes.
