You just need to adj. the ducer, yes check angle yes but the big thing is its too high up- as u pick up speed back of boat actually rises in water column bringing the ducer partly out of water, at least good water no air bubbles..so lower the ducer some. Common problem on many boats.

If you are running a 2d skimmer mount you usually lose contact around 5-12 mphs, that same goes with Lss-1.

If you have glass, and want to read at speed, the shoot thru is the way to go, I get readings up to 45MPH.

Thanks for the info everyone I will try to lower my transducer first and if that doesn't work I will buy a in hull because its hard to run a new lake without a depth reading
Jason is there adjustments I need to make on my lss1 to get the best reading for the structure and side scan I most fish fresh water here on the tenn river chain.with 90 percent being lake guntersville where we have a lot of grass on the lake.

In the instruction manual its show pict of HDS SDHC door & says slot on the right high speed slot, it reads faster. Question which door is what they call the one on right side and would u use this slot for the map card or the one for say picts etc. ???

i love the 3 screens that the new update gave us for the hds 7. i now have the down structure scan and the sonar where the depths are the same on both transducers and where when i see fish on one i see them on the other as well , so i think ive come along way. i still have trouble reading the side imaging, as when i go passed a seawall, the image on that side still looks grassy, with my motor up almost out of the water to give a clear reading. does anyone have an opinion?
when i have the 3 screens on, one with sonar, one with downscan, and one with sidescan, i find that my sidescan is going twice as fast at the other 2, can not find where to control the speed of it --any ideas?

Set your sonar scroll speed to X2 on your sonar page menu. Might help........

Also, what you see on side scan is not what is on down scan or 2d sonar in most cases.
