when i have the 3 screens on, one with sonar, one with downscan, and one with sidescan, i find that my sidescan is going twice as fast at the other 2, can not find where to control the speed of it --any ideas?

Set your sonar scroll speed to X2 on your sonar page menu. Might help........

Also, what you see on side scan is not what is on down scan or 2d sonar in most cases.

I got the HDS 8, 8 & 10 have 2 slots. I got spoiled with two slots when I had a 997, one slot was map card other for picts which I did a lot of @ all my favorite spots. This way I never had to be taking sandisk sdhc card in & out while in boat.

since you have all these cards, lets see some pictures. i am having a difficult time figuring out how to read the si. when i go by a seawall, mine still shows brush---how is that possible.
post some pictures of your si if you have any

depends on how far your scanning each way, I have found that the farther out the less detail, and as for the brush, maby it is really there, I can not tell you how much more trash, logs, barrels, junk on the bottom that I never thought was there, on some of the stuff, I just said no way, wife said take the underwater camera and have a look , so I did, the si was spot on. what I see on the 7 and 8 was there, brush tires, old screen door, trust your electronice, but remember to try and scan shorter distance side to side, I usually scan half the water depth, ie, 20 ft of water 10 ft. out 50 ft 25 out , that is not in concreet just a suggestion I use.

Crappie I used a 997 side scan for 5 years, a side scan is nothing more than what u would see if u looked to the right or left of your boat as u move say 3 to 7 mph. If u pass say a sunken boat it will look like a sunken boat. In the case of a HB997 it looks just like a camera shot of your subject. If u have some picts of your side shots post a couple here and we can look at them.

I have had mine out a couple times now and like it so far. I do have a small problem. The left side looks great but the right side looks as if the contrast is set to high. The transducer is mounted to the right of my motor on the transom. I think I may have it tilted a little. I'm going to the lake tommorrow and will mess with it some more. took some snapshots and will try to get them up soon.
