They juiced me up at the VA today...haha

I sale both and both are great units. HB customer service is top notch and they speak america! I like HB, an america owned company.
Plus the they have ethernet networking now as well and You can also add xm weather.

I tell you guys, it's very similar to Ford V Chevy. I have a good friend who loves his 997. I'm sure I will love the HDS 8. There will be times when someone gets burned on something. Shellback is right in being upset spending 2k on a unit that is now considered obsolete. I can't blame him at all for being ticked off about it. Regardless, I think the back and forth bantering is getting a bit nasty, I ask that all shake hands and calm down a little.

Shellback didn't buy a Lowrance unit. Shellback copied that from another Forum. And so far, his story hasn't added up. He claimed he bought a 2K unit and 2yrs later he's out all the money and Low didn't help. They stopped making the unit he bought in the year 2006. He would have bought the unit in 2008. They also sent him an offer to buy an HDS10 for 650.00. That's for a unit 3 years out of warranty, and it sounds like this guy bought it used. Seeing a complaint on Customer service, many times it's "Customer" related. People get mad a lot when it's their problem, not the company. Now every company drops the ball some times, so I'm not defending any company.

you know the sad thing is this, the original poster that was a new guy to the boards, just gave up and threw his hands up and said he would post any more in this thread . I dont think he got his answer, just those giving preferences but mostly as reaper said tossing snide remarks back and forth about the brands. I just hate that his first taste of the board has already left a bad taste in his mouth
