I got a great phone call today.

Old man in my fishing club called to ask me to make him……wait for it……wait……some crappie jigs.

He asked about the cost and I said free.

He said his back was better and he wanted to start fishing again.he was gonna ask me to make him quite a few. Said he has three designs, and will bring them to me where I work…. tomorrow. Said the hooks were important.

This man is 91 years old and has the reputation amongst the local fishing community we would all love to carry about. I am very excited to have a chance to peak into his mind.

Geeeeeeee……wonder what he will bring me.
Maybe they will bite this one……

Unfortunately, the jigs he handed me were nothing special. He said an old club member used to make them. I saw nothing exciting or interesting. Boring old plain old same same design everyone makes. He does like an under spin though. Said these were the type of jig he likes to use in one particular lake. That he has other designs he uses in other lakes. I suspect he intends to fish that one lake for now as they were all pretty much the same color and design. Nasty old black head with a painted eye and chenille body in dark colors. Ridiculous sickle hooks.

Guess it all comes down to whose rod they are tied to.

It’s what the user and the fish like. Sometimes what a man can afford….I do like the painted spoons. The orange with white stripe caught my eye right off. Thanks for posting.

I had ordered from Woods and Water before, and got superior quality blood quill mareaboo. They dye it themselves. Recently, I needed some thread and the price was too good to pass on. I got to looking and saw their jig boxes.

Well my order came and them jig boxes are THE BOMB.

Beautiful, water proof, double sided with clear domed lids that accept my under spins. Solid latch that is easy to open.

If you ever wanted to get a nice jig box……this is it. The price was half of anything even closely comparable.

    Thank you Woods and Water.

    These devils are super nice.

    $25 each

Two of these will safely store about 400 large jigs. Not bass master jigs, but not fly sized jigs either. My under spins have wire that projects upwards and the doomed lid snaps down without interference. Pitch them in boat storage and they will keep your jigs looking nice.

I am trying to fill one of mine up now. LOL

I made up some jig heads for that old man. 1/8 ounce, size #2 sickle hooks……. BLAH !

20 of these. They are a Free Style head with a swivel attachment point for under spin.

40 of these. These are Bat Jigs and will swim with tail spinners.

I do not care for sickle hooks as the barbs are too shallow to suit me. Lost several bragging sized fish that flopped at the last second and slid right off the hook and gone sucker. I like a barb that stands proud.

Anyways, these are sitting in holders while the BSI epoxy is setting up. Did things a little differently this time. I attached the eyes, jig in hand, then set in holder, then over coated the eyes- two times. Adding the epoxy then trying to fiddle up some eyes before it hardens is not much fun. This new way allows me plenty of time to get everything right, positionally, and then encase and seal them in place.

He showed me the ones I am to copy and they are dark chenilles, with some flashy mixed in. Short dark tail to conceal back spinner’s swivel. The job was not done very well. I do not have the proper chenille on hand. I can get by, but probably should order some for this project. All my chenilles are bright and colorful. Drab, dull and dark never interested me.

While waiting for my jig heads to dry…..I started filling the new boxes. Started filling, because the first box absolutely swallowed the jigs from two White River boxes and a Gamakatzu. There is room for it to swallow another Gamakatzu and a few more.

Is that box same size as 3600 or 3700 boxes?
