went up To my place which has been hard to do with my wife having pain issues. Had a fishing dude friend I play R ball with him and his wife having place at MT but never fished my area before. We hit my home lake on fishing dock with several folks there before us and having good success with some really nice Crappie.
We didn’t do much there for a half hour but I did ketch a big female over 13 inches. then moved to a lil cove most folks pass by but hoping they were starting their dance. Sure enough on first cast in shallow water KABOOM happened with a 12 inch Male w his tuxedo on! That got the heart thumping, quickly caught another. So I called my buddy over from dock area and he started casting. I landed a couple more before he hit but he brought in a big male too and man was he excited. He fishes middle and north forks of MT but hasnt caught this size fish in a long while.
We kept whacking them until this small area stopped hitting which it does. dock hadn’t caught anything in couple hours so they came over on tail end of the show. Ended with 20 really nice ones, smallest 10.5 up to 13.5 with 8 males over 12. That;s a nice way to get the season going. it will get better but you need to know where to go or it can be a dud.
Buddy I fish with a lot came in with his boat and cousin and started whacking them off shore where they were still in pre spawn. Great day overall and always glad when you bring someone to your place they get in on the ketchn. he was impressed with my cabin and area as well.
