I got to fish a local water reservoir while waiting for my wife to get her hair done . I do this this just about every time she has a hair appointment. Beats just sitting in the car after dropping her off.

The first fifteen minutes was spent searching with a micro spinner without any luck . I switched baits over to a 4mm tungsten bead ,olive micro jig and moved over to where the right side of the docks line up across from where the riprap begins .

I caught four gills , one a decent , colored up one from casting parallel to the riprap to my right. That would have made my trip .

Things changed whe I decided to try a cast to my left , to the water in behind the docks . I felt a bump , and caught my first of fifteen crappies in the next 26 minutes.

I caught a fish on almost every cast , took a picture, released , and cast again , kaboom !

I had to leave them biting , and I did catch one on my last cast .  .

The fish were a blast on my 5’ Daiwa Trout X AT XUL rod paired up with a Daiwa Fuego LT1000 , spooled with Ande yellow 2# Tournament line with a 4-5’ leader from 4# Floroclear line . I’ve started using a shock leader with my 2# line to allow me to handle the fish by the line without breaking off . I like using the leader . I connect the two lines using a triple surgeons knots .

I like the XUL rod too . I may have to pickup another .
