I made the official first time out since hard water fishing this evening. Got to the waters edge about 6:30 just casting from shore, it was a slow start for sure. Chilly and windy, 47 degrees before the wind. I started with a chartreuse Crappie magnet with black/chartreuse on, no luck. Changed colors to Dude, still no luck. I swapped out for a 1/16 chartreuse Road Runner with a Crappie Max white pearl ( one of my “go to” set ups) and it was game on. First up was a couple bluegill followed by a 2-ish lb bass, as I walked down the bank I started to get into the crappie pretty good. Lost a nice one and a couple bass due to using last seasons gear (dull hook), but most were cooperative and stayed on. I think the crappie tally was 13 not counting the few that didn’t make shore.

Tonight was a catch a release night. No measuring device but most were real nice at approximately 12” that fought like a bass.

A couple might have been bigger than 12”, I bet the one that got away was huge lol.

Most of the bite came during the calm at sunset, my hands were frozen and the wind picked back up so I called it a night at 7:45. All in all I was pretty happy for the first time out!
