Welcome to the board. We do have a good group of fishermen. You'll come to love that lake, especially since you pretty much have it to yourself!

The Boat Ramp is on the way
Better do all the catching you can before the access lets in the hoards. Hope this means some stocking as well
-
Ah, I live on a different part than the ramp. I've been catching tons of crappie this year so far though.
-
Good to hear Cody. Any size to the crappie? Anything else in the mix?
-
My average out of all the fish combined is over 13". I've missed the 15" citation by less than a half inch at least 10 or 12 times now. Also caught a bunch of bass, pickerel, blue cats, perch and 1 gar. I see HUGE bass like 8lb plus jumping all the time but can't get them to bite anything.

I just kayak fish it because I don't have a way to get my boat in the water at my house.

I've responded to questions like this in the past. It sounds like you know that you can launch at Little Creek Reservoir and head north and through the Van Wyck Canal under Diamond Springs Road. However, you are most likely restricted from getting under the railroad bridge with the lake level at the current elevation. IF you could get under the bridge, you would be in Lake Whitehurst near the old boat ramp.
A new ramp is planned for Lake Whitehurst at the corner of Heutte and Shore Drive. However, this lot is owned by Dominion Power and their project took longer than expected, delaying the our project start. Hopefully, the ramp will be open later this year.

When they open that ramp, I kind of hope the fish migrate over to my section of the lake. Haha

Must be colder on the other side
Fishing on the main lake has been slow so far. Only targeted Bass and the catch rate has been brutal. Live shiners are the only thing working so far. I did have a 35 lb. cat on the other side of the runway a few weeks ago. By my self and couldn't get the photo. Good to see some new activity on this thread. Good luck to all as the weather gets things rolling. Your Pal, Brad
