Default Trinity River around Riverside TX

Does anyone know of any good spots to start looking for some good crappie in the Trinity river or about what depth they are holding at?

    Thanks

I was at the boat ramp Hwy 19 in Riverside this morning the Trinity River is up about 2 ft, the water color is like chocolae milk and flowing full of trash and brush. I drove over the FM 980 bridge over Harmon Creek, first creek north of the Hwy 19 ramp the water was up and brown like the river. Then I went to Bethy Creek the first creek south of the Hwy 19 ramp the water was clear (for Livingston) I could see down about 12-14", I was backing down the ramp to launch my boat and I got a call about a friend who was stuck in the National Forest so left to help him. No one was fishing in Bethy the only people fishing was 5 people fishing for cat fish at the Hwy 19 ramp. If I were going fish I would go to Carolina Creek or Bethy. I mainly fish in White Rock Creek or Kickapoo. The last time I was fishing we caught fish on the bottom in 12 ft of water. I would check Texas Fishing Forum; Crappie page for some local lakes info. Hope this helps.

I would personally drive into Trinity to White Rock City marina and start fishing there. Deeper and longer creek than the others off the river.

Did you make it to the rapids in White Rock? How did you do the following week at Harmon? I was looking foward to their white bass tournament this year. They were not expecting water to come up so they cancelled it. With the water being as high as it is launch at Elroys (Bells Camp) and run up river to Nelson creek. You will be able to navigate farther with the water being up. Should be able to pull some slabs out this week.

Where are the rapids? I've fished White Rock for a long time and didn't know about any rapids. I would like to see them that sounds cool. I fished white rock on 24th. Caught one 13" slab by the rocks up creek from the 94 bridge on a jig. The rest were too small to keep. Didn't get out until after 10am so I probably missed most of the action.

The "rapids" are really just a small water fall the fish cannot get over when the water is normal level. The "rapids" are on Little White Rock that is about 1 mile above the cable across the creek. After you go under the cable (stay to the let about 6-10 ft off the bank). The first creek on the left is Tannaough Creek, the first creek on the right is Little White Rock, the "rapids" are about 1/2 to 3/4 miles upstream. I live in Huntsville and fish White Rock about once a week.

That's awesome. I never venture too far past the rocks. I will have to check that out next time. Will a bass boat go that far up? Is there any crappie up that far?

I am going to focus on the marina area next time. Got to get some slabs in the freezer lol
