Thanks for the insight cg. I def like checking out new spots and being away from the crowd but it was real boost to my confidence to finally catch some even though all those boats were out on little river.

b4 I had never tipped jigs with minnows until past Sat. morning stopped by Dooley's and Monte explained to me all about tipping. So I tried it that's what we caught the fish n the pic on.

Crappie should be moving toward the points where there are creeks and coves or just outside the mouths of these coves or creeks. They are staging for the spawn which is probably 30 days or so out is my bet. Trolling jigs at 5ft to 20ft should locate them. Troll slow however as they are not ready for an all out biting frenzy since the shad have yet to move from the channels and trigger the feeding period before the spawn. A cold front will shut them down even more during this pre stage period. They are in transition from winter haunts to pre spawn haunts.....maybe.

Hey Iamfishing you read my mind. I was talking with a guy at the sporting goods store today he said the same thing you just said.

Good luck next time out. Just follow the crappie in and out for awhile as the warm weather pushes them in and the cold fronts shut them down. When the shad do move in the crappie will stay on them and not be weather watchers so much and then they will spawn. First the males to the shallows then the big females.

Slowpole, I agree with Iamfishing. Right now is on and off but when they turn on, man, it is fun! Keep at them and if you don't catch fish one place or depth try another place. If you are marking fish and nothing is biting, keep changing colors and speed/depth until you trigger a bite. If you see a charcoal/tan Tracker Deep V17 50 HP with rod holders all over it, give me a shout!

Gobbler, I THINK you got it down pat !! I got my boat back from Mac, & started putting the electronics back on it , also invested in a 3 bank on board charger & installed it yesterday ( bogus check ) its a 30 amp with 10 amps per bank , ought to be SO much better than just one 10 amp charger & having to switch from cranking to trolling , very excited about that.I wanted to get t o go this weekend but i found some plows in teh market bullentin & need to go get them while the guys still has them, might can squezze in a quickie tomorrow afternoon, if i get any good reports from the Tourney BTW Good Luck and PAY ATTENTION , you can pick up LOTS of tips fro, the boys

    Catch ya later
