Default Wylie was windy but paid off with some perch

Went with Uncle Remus to lake Wylie Thursday morning. It was windy and cold but that didn't stop us from going. Found some fish in 40 - 45 foot of water but couldn't hold on them. My remote to the I pilot bit the dust first thing. The battery cap on the back got stripped while I was trying to reset the battery because of no power. No tape to be found on the pontoon. We had to leave what we saw and move to safer waters, ending up in Torrance Branch behind the Island on NC side. Remus found us some fish and we luckily we got the remote to working and laid it face down with anchor lock on. I didn't know it would work that way but Remus is a master of all trades said it would. We started catching fish on the first drop and it lasted a couple of hours that way. We had all sizes of fish throwing all the smaller ones back and keeping the larger ones. We had a few 1/4 pound to half a pound. Total caught maybe 100 and kept 47. We both had a good time even though we couldn't feel our finger from baiting the hooks in the cold air. When the perch moved on us we started looking and never found them again, so we headed home cold and stiff from the wind. The ramps at Ebenezer are better than a week ago and we had no problem other than the wind getting in or out at the ramp. I wish I had paid attention to the water temps but didn't. No pictures taken sorry! Thanks! Remus for taking an old Dawgg fishing I had a good time.

You're going to have to step up and get a roll of duct tape for the toon.

Thanks for the report and the pictures, no wait there weren't any pictures.
I was able to get caught up on work so maybe next week Wed/Thurs we can try again

The only thing I see wrong with this post is the number of perch that was thrown back. Keep all the little buggars and feed the buzzards. A thanks for sharing

Yep, I knew from earlier posts that Remus was a pro at working remotes without a latch cover or tape. Seems like he'd learn to keep a roll in his pocket.
Glad y'all found the perch biting.

the ones we threw back had they bladder blown out the ones that didn't B/D
squeezed them till they gave up the ghost and gently tossed them to
the big blue herein that finally got so heavy it could not fly over to get more
there were plenty whit spots on the water when we left

thanks for the trip Bigdawgg yep again the remote broke = this time seems the problem was
this large size knife and a great Bigdawgg == I mean the water was 50* when we started and 53*
when we quit. the temp in the truck was a toasty 75* and we got out in 29* to see how cold we could
get before we froze to death. wind blowing just short of hurricane Matthew and water so rough we had
to lay down to keep from falling overboard. = I have heard that you went to sleep just before you froze
to death so now I'm thinking that was the reason I was nodding off on our way back across the lake to
the ramp. ok ok it was not all that bad but pretty cool and me and the dawgg had a good time
catching a good pile of perch. guess that's what its all about. couple friends having a little fun togather.
