Very sad!! But you did beat the heat and catch some fish.
Jeff and I signed up to fish the Perch Jerk on Murray put on by Lake World. We pre-fished 3 days prior trying to find biting fish. We came up dry each trip catching only a few each time.
We were on the water at 7 this morning and finally got into some fish. It was short lived but we had 30 or so by 10 o'clock.
You could weigh 50 fish so we felt we had a long way to go. We fished hard until 2:30 and came out to meet the weigh in which was given as 2:30 until 3:30.
We pulled into the parking lot only to be told they had already done the weigh in because they didn't think anyone else was coming.
What made that hard to take was our catch would have finished 3rd.
As hard as we worked in 90 degree heat, to say we were disappointed is quite the understatement.
First place was $500, I don't know what 3rd would have been, but it was frustrating to put that much effort forth and end up like this.
Seems to me this was an unprofessional tournament closing early without warning. I also am reminded racing snowmobiles last year and my sled was disqualified to let a local member of the snowmobile club take 1st place.

Not sure we beat the heat. We both were whipped by 2:30. The lake looked like the 4th of July. I saw more boats today than I've seen in many years. That was part of the beating we took, constantly battered by wakes. Jeff's boat is an 18' Stratos but we still bobbled around like a cork.

That sucks Ray! If fishing and weigh in time was given in the rules, the organizers are responsible for honoring them unless a vote was held by ALL fishermen and ALL agreed to alter the times. If your weight was weighed within the stated time you should be awarded the prize you would of qualified for.

One rod, one jig, one fish at a time.
If they were all good days you wouldn't know the bad ones. Sorry for your troubles, I'd think twice about doing that event next year. With that kind of money you'd think they'd let everyone weigh in.
Sorry that Richard done that to you.
I don't want to bad mouth Richard or Lake World. They are good folks who will give you good info on where the fish are biting and how to fish for them. Everybody makes mistakes, it was a tough day, nobody caught much and they called it early. We probably should have called and let them know we were on the way.

Ray it wasn't your place to call in and tell them you were coming to weigh in. Hate to hear this, I know how hot it was today on the lake and my hats is off to y'all for your catch.
Good people makes bad mistakes and I would have a talk with the ones in control.
