I appreciate all the responses, but to be truthful I wrote this thread to pick fun at myself, not to bash the dealer or Lowe boats. I've owned a boat of some kind for more than 33 years now, not having one readily available to me is sort of a strange feeling. Here it is March 06, and I haven't wet a single hook yet this year. My original plan was to keep my two old boats and get new motors. My wife recommended me sell the two boats and get a brand new one of my liking. I was reluctant at the beginning due to the prices, but we agreed to refinance the house, borrow enough for the new boat and for some home repairs. I looked at every make and model that was available, how they were built and options. I am a versatile crappie fishermen, I'm not great at any one technique, but more than capable of holding my own long line trolling, slow troll/tight lining, shooting docks, or my favorite of one pole vertical jigging. I prefer a motor with a tiller, I needed a boat big enough to handle some rough water, and made strong enough to ride over stumps and logs. I chose the Lowe 1860DLX, my second choice was a Crestliner 1860DLX, not sure if these boats are made by the same manufacturer or not, but they look identical. I had some additional pedestal seat mounts added in the floor, and had the boat made out of .125 aluminum. There are no Crestliner dealers in SC that I could find, and only two Lowe dealers that could get the boat I wanted. I chose Martins marine, Jimmy the owner seemed like a nice, straight shooting fellow, until he proves differently, I will continue to believe that. When I placed the order, Jimmy had already made his order for the month of February. He thought he could get my boat piggybacked with his current order, but it didn't come to pass. I knew this going in, I wasn't overly excited about it, but didn't want to settle for another make and model boat other than the one I wanted. His story of the aluminum shortage was told in fun more than as a ploy to keep me from getting angry. Does this suck not having a boat, or not getting the one I ordered in time for the early big fish bite, yes it does, but isn't the end of the world either. As long as I stay healthy, I'll catch more than my share before the year is out that you can count on. In the meanwhile, I have a never ending list of honey do's to get caught up on and I can't use that; I'm going fishing excuse to put them off, at least not just yet.

With the purchase of a new hole in the water,,,,I am sure the honey do list is growing exponentially daily !!! I appreciate your honesty and your humility about the whole ordeal. Amazing how when we are tested, we grow....May God bless you with many limits when your new boat arives!

Tim I am glad to hear the post was done as fun. Wait on your new boat and enjoy rigging it the way you want . I just bought another boat and it is a project boat to play with I went to Birmingham Alabama to get it. It was what I wanted and the closest I could find. Don't ever take your Heath for granted because we never know what is growing inside us and be found and turn our world upside down. Don
