    Default Russell 6-3 thru 6-9

Okay I'm not much of a story teller so lets get right to business. Lake Russell is slap full , water temps run from the low 80's in tthe mornings to mid 80's evenings. This is surface tempature. Fished for bass during the mornings and few evenings and ill rate BAss fishing as good. Caught llots of Bass on rapala shad rap. Baby bass colors. Bombers also produced well. Fish main lake points early mans late in the day. Crappie I nights talked 3 nights and didn't have any ttrouble catching fish anchored in roughly 23 ft of water all nights. Caught lots of crappie but the size was terrible because of the size I'm rating crappie fishing as fair. I'm not afraid od
the dark like some so I didn't crappie fish during the day. Catfish jugs wwere poor averaged 1 catfish for every 10
jugs threw out. Pictures will be on Facebook in a few hrs c.c is to time consuming putting on pictures. Happy trails

I just want to add, as of yesterday afternoon the lake was clear with a
a stain back up in the creeks. A lot of rain fell but it wasn't a washing rain so the lake stayed in good shape.

Sounds like you had a good week Beagler. I've been listening and hearing great things about night fishing with the bigger crappies being caught early and then the little guys moving in as the nite gets longer. I hope you tossed those bass up on the bank too (dang crappie eaters...grrrr). Congrats on your week of leasure!

Hey Dude I have never ever ever ever caught a bass on a crappie imitation lure and I have about 5 different brands. Once again I have never ever ever ever caught a bass on a crappie imitation lure. Leads to only one conclusion bass don't like crappie they have better taste.

Nice fish ck and stump hunter, I myself have caught countless bass on crappie jigs. But never on a crappie painted pattern on a crank bait. Last year the crappie bite was sp good I was catching 50 to 80 a trip and a
lot times left them biting. This yr the bass bite is so good I'm goina take advantage of it. What bite will be hot next yr, I don't know but I hope to cash in on it. Heck fishing is fun. I personally think that people that target one type of fish are missing out of some good times". Hopefully start nightstalking on a weekly basis next week. Anyone want to join up give me a Holler.

I agree Beagler, all fish are fun to catch! I had good luck a few years ago on Russell with Bandits in pink, chart, black and pearl catching spotted bass. All sizes worked and fishing those long points was the ticket Good luck and keep us posted.

Beagler, this morning I pulled jigs on Russell and caught more spotted bass or catfish than I did crappie. As soon as my 'taber trees produce I have a morning date with those catfish. I got time to get the rigs together so it should be alot of fun. Naturally though, I'll still have my longlining stuff along with me in the boat.
