    Default For what it's worth

I don't know how everyone feels about the moderated forum. I for one don't think it reflects the intent of this board. My understanding of the intent of this board is to share information about fishing in general and crappie in particular. The moderated board doesn't allow new people to participate. You must establish yourself on the public board first with a number of posts and a number of days as a member, once you have satisfied the requirements your post is scrutinized to determine if it is worthy of posting before it is posted to the forum. If the intent is to have an exclusive club that trades information that you would like to keep from the general public then you have succeeded. By forming this protected forum you have automatically excluded people that:

    1) don't or can't fish enough to satisfy the entry requirements
    2) people with handicaps that limits or prohibits there participation
    3) new people that don't have the time or posts on the public board
    4) most people who don't have boats and aren't able or willing to satisfy the entry requirements
    5) I'm sure you can think of more reasons on your own

This is my personal opinion. I have the time and posts required to participate in this forum if I wish to. I do look at it from time to time. I enjoy reading and looking at the pictures of other peoples successes. I don't fish as much as I would like so most of it doesn't help or hinder my success. I don't post a lot here because I do very little crappie fishing. If this would have been in effect when I joined I would not have joined because of it. Thank you for reading this and have a crappie day.

If it was easy...everyone would be doing it..

First off there has never been a fishing report that didn't get approved but only fishing reports can be posted on that forum. Not everyone will agree to the new forum but for the ones that want to share fishing reports with other members it is working just like it should. I don't see why you would complain about it anyway since you don't post on it. Just my .02

Nothing I have read in the moderated forum can't be found elsewhere on the net. I read a fishing report in the moderated forum recently and looked at another site and seen a report that was almost word for word. In this day of modern of the Internet. , cell phone information is a accessible at the click of button. C.c no matter what we think is a business, and in trueth the moderated forum is a business decision to get new members. The more members the site gets the more the more money comes into the owner from advertisers. Nothing at wrong with that. But I beleive in the long term it's going to hurt, people don't have to jump through hoops to get information or read a fishing report.

I can tell you for a fact that there are plenty of folks that come to this site for fishing info and give nothing back because that is exactly what i used to do! My fishing buddy Stanley still does it (he has not joined CDC, and is always asking me if I have read any good posts on the Moderated Forum). Trying to get him to join up, maybe he will read this post! If you don't agree with the hidden forum, you can always still post reports on the open forum. The only reason I posted the 5/22 Secession report on the open forum is so Stanley could view it and get some idea of what type of posts normally show up in the moderated forum. I see now there have been some 500 or so views on that report. Wow. What % of those folks shared any info back? Very few. Me personally I like the Moderated Forum concept. Those that are willing to share info help each other out. I have gleaned a lot of good crappie info from the posts of those like GABowman, Stumphunter, FOM, etc. The world is full of so many takers these days, nice to see a few folks willing to give something back. I think the Moderated Forum is working as designed and is a good thing.

I TOTALLY agree with Fisholishous. If it wasnt for the Moderated forum then I wouldnt be posting ANY fishing reports. I dont know about you other guys but I got tired of folks waiting for me at ramps and following me to my fishing spots. And it wasnt the members I talk with cause that wouldnta bothered me. It was all the dang lurkers wanting all the info and wasnt giving out any. Some of you guys might not like the moderated forum but if anyone wants to read my posts on my fishing reports that's where they will be.

For the record, I've changed my way of thinking about hunting and fishing. I dont mind sharing ANY info with like minded people that are willing to share information back. But that being said...it seems like it wasnt all that long ago that I didnt see the need to share ANY info with ANYBODY. I've hunted and fished all my life and back in the day all I ever shared anything with were just my closest of friends with whom I hunted or fished with, which was only a very few. Lots of folks used to ask me where I caught fish at and I never seen the need to tell them anything. Matter of fact...I probably told a whole lotta lies to folks that were asking. Back then I figured if people wanted to catch fish like I did then they coulda did their homework the same way I had to. I worked hard for EVERYTHING I've accomplished....and yes, that also includes hunting and fishing.

Now some of you know how i feel when I read a post such as .
Going to Russell this weekend could you give some pointers. The answer back is welcome to the site yes put in at Beaver Dam creek and go To the back . Plus cold waters a good creek go to the back and you'll catch fish. Your sending them into my neck of the woods then. I got a confession their 4 month out of the year I hate this site usually from Feb
thru April you get people wanting to know where to fish and most don't have the decency to introduce themselves first. That's what get me more then anything.
