Water temp was low 40s. We saw a couple of round bait balls with fish around them and I almost would have bet we were going to get hit. No such luck

Scooperdude, what are you using to clean out your jets? I have a 06 40hp mercury bigfoot 4 stroke that was choughing down two weeks ago .
Am getting ready to change plugs and change oil and filter.

The problem for he was the plug/jet at the bottom of the float bowl. I just pulled them out blew air thru them, drained the bowl and reinstalled, no problem. That also worked on Sunday. If it sits over a couple week they plug up. I have a spin on filter/water separator inline, next I'll put a valve inline so I can run the thing out of gas after a trip.
Mind either wouldn't run or would cough and sputter till I blew out the jets.
