I've heard of folks just gutting the cat. I would never do so, just something I heard!

Oh what a travesty. Some poor person takes the trouble to crawl under your vehicle and cut the cat of. Just to find out someone has removed all the precious metals.

One question I have never seen a satisfactory answer on is why when all engines are manufactured Brass Expansion Plugs are not installed at that time. If you buy a Marine GM engine it has brass or at least they use to.

On my 1990 Geo Tracker I removed the cat completely. The will cause problems down the road.

When I went to germany back in the day, American vehicles with catalytic converters on them, had them removed and a plain piece of pipe installed in it's place. Regular fuel only. If upon your return and you shipped your vehicle back, it was replaced.
