Knowing now for sure you did not change "Chart Speed" in any of the OP 5 shots...:

Did you notice how the display's actual scroll rate changed simply by changing the Sonar settings between 200...200/83...83...??

Notice in your shots how stretched the bridge gets in each change of the Sonar setting...

This anomoly has only been occurring in the last few software versions...

I have yet to hear HB explain why the display scroll rate is changing simply by changing the Sonar frequency choice settings...

never paid attention to that. So using the settings I have do you think that by speeding up or slowing down scroll speed (keeping boat speed same) it would help in getting a crisper shot. I watched a vid in reference to scroll speed and how you can spread the rocks our tree tops to see fish in them better.

yea and heres another strange anomoly that ill tell you about.on friday while on barkley taking snapshots of dam-e i couldnot run scroll speed lower than 4.the screen would jurk to much but today while taking snapshots on kentucky i could run scroll speed on 1 with no jurking.i changed from 200 to 83 to 200/83 with no changes in the si screen.

It also helps in giving a better view like these two creeks coming together then going on to the river channel

I see what ya mean. That point would be a nice spot for a brush pile.

when you went through settings in DI you said SI never changed, is this due to the update you are running?

all di settings are sepperate from all si settings.i see were you posted that when you made changes to the di settings it changed ypur si also.ill check that out on my units next time out.i have not noticed this happenning on my 998s but i dont really keep to close an eye on things.mybe it does the same on my units and i have just not noticed it.i didnt even no about the jurky thing on si until i read about it on the internet.now that i no about it i cant keep from fiddling around with the scroll speed tring to make it jurk.when its all said and done i just put the scroll speed back on 5 or 6 and works good for me at whatever speed im running.even my 997 i run the same scroll speed and it seemed alright to me

"Chart Speed" (and in this case the display speed changing by setting a different Sonar setting)...is like most other settings in SI (or DI)...as long as the user understands how to interpret the screen...the effect of the setting can be used for the task the user is trying to garner from the data showing on the display...

If one merely wants to make "pretty" pictures for the internet...getting the display to scroll at the proper rate to get structure to look normal "real world" size is important...therefore "Chart Speed" ...(and also "Sonar Frequency" choice in these software versions)...are both changing the screen scroll rate...which vastly affects the image....

If one wants to stretch the data on the display so as to see fish better..(or look down into brush for fish....or make rocks look bigger...or to discern if a stake bed is shovel handles or board slats...)...then getting the screen to scroll faster is a beneficial tool for those tasks...

As the display scroll speed is so important in how it affects the image ....(At this point in the software)..it's important to recognise that the "Chart Speed" setting is not the only HB imaging setting that is affecting the display scroll speed...

Kosmo, Were you doing an other things differently when you saw the jerky action and when you didn't?

Maybe things like the mapping chip used, the zoom level, recording or not recording, etc
