    I agree.

Here is my logic for going and staying with Humminbird:

    1. I DO think that HB has the best SI...definitely the best coverage area.
SI is important to me because I fish for a lot of things besides crappie. I want to be able to see bream or bass beds far to the side in shallow water, and be able to spot large catfish well off to the side. Why would I want to buy a SI unit that was more designed for DI than SI?
    2. If I want better DI, HB has a number of dedicated DI units in all price ranges that have excellent DI.
    3. If I own a HB, I have the option to add I-pilot link or a 360 unit. (I have an I-pilot Terrova now and will eventually upgrade it to the link)
    4. Johnson Outdoors is a great company who also owns Minn Kota, Lakemaster, and now Dr Depth. They are managing these companies to create a co-operative group that is getting stronger all the time.
    5. HB brought SI to the fishing market and is still innovating with things like the I-pilot link, 360, and heading sensor. Sure there is a lot of leap frogging going on with more players now jumping into the game, but that is good for all of us.
    5. HB is entirely owned by US interests, and is manufactured in the USA. A lot of people don't care about that now days, but I DO.

I owned the lss1. Those calcs were based on my findings. The lss2 has the same coverage as the HB. 600 ft and uses 1/2 the power to do so (500W rms and 4000W ptp). This is published data. Of course, the power ratings are manipulated by all the makers and shakers.

I am waiting on HB new stuff. I am not a dedicated diehard fan of either manuf (or any manuf). Ima butterfly boy.

I think the "chirp" thing has got a lot of engineers and marketing folks burning the midnight oil right now.

I know that sometimes these pics can be hard to read so let me explain

Pic 1 is of a mess of crappie ready to be cleaned

Pic 2 is a bunch of crappie nosed up to a pile of ice....ready to be cleaned

Pic 3 is a couple of huge crappie...ready to be cleaned

Pic 4 is a school of crappie closely confined to cover....AND, waiting to be cleaned.

Hehe....the argument goes on but I love my hds

Now for the interference on the TM ...everyone's boat setup is different...

The only way to know for sure if your specific setup will have RF...is to mount it and try it...

If you get RF...bring it here and we will do our best to help you track it down...

The manual that HB sent me with my unit, is actually the 597 unit manual. From what I can tell, same unit with same capabilities, just a larger screen. I installed everything per HB, and I cannot get it dialed in right. I will take some screen shots and possibly do some troubleshooting on here. I sure appreciate the feedback though.

Gotta say I enjoyed reading this entire thread. Was Low guy for many years never would of considered owning an Hbird until I bought my 797c2si in 2005. With easier menus, ease of operation, and the better SI. I will say I don`t think I will ever own another Low product.

If you were to rotate that picture above you would get 700ft. Gps cor... Is on that picture for lowrance users.seems like yeall can't find anything unless its directly under your boat(o look i see fish all over that brush pile and just look at the detail.i don't no why they won't bite.i think ill go over it again).

I think it's more likely that most Lowrance users know that you're just baiting them
