    riverrat85,
Which transducer are you using with your 597ci HD DI unit and where is it mounted?

Not sure which one....whatever came with it when i bought it new from cabelas 2 years ago. Its mounted left of the motor. Would u like a pic of it? I just ordered a 998c si from bbg marine so if i can hopefully get this fixed ill move it up front. I have a terrova us2 up front and have a cheap pirannah linked to it. If i move this one up front and link it up the down imaging wont work for it right? This technology is crazy to figure out lol

I don't think the DI unit should be hooked to the US2...

The US2 is 2d only and that would leave the DI unit transmitting to the DI crystals with no DI crystals to transmit to....

This can cause damage to the internal circuitry of your unit...

I would leave the Pihranna hooked to the US2 (if it's not in your way)...for backup...

Then mount the DI xducer to the bottom of the Terrova...

Correct Rickie: no US2’s for the smaller DI units like the 597ci HD DI riverrat has.

If that is the teardrop shaped transducer than it is the correct one riverrat.
Did you ever call the Humminbird Customer Resource Center folks?
That picture you posted doesn’t point to any particular problem so the fault could be in the unit or in the transducer. If you can: test your 597ci HD DI unit on someone else’s boat that has a Humminbird DI model unit on it. If not, you may have to send the unit and transducer in to be sure it gets fixed.

I have not contacted humminbird yet. I think i may just cut my losses with this unit and trash it. This unit cost more than it helped. Hope my new 998 doesnt disappoint as this one did.
