Sorry, I prepared fish soup of them a couple of hours ago, you know it is very testy … with pepper, a little bit of vodka . The fish was pretty small – they are half a pound european striped perches and crucians (kind of small carps). The dark clouds on screenshorts are really small bait fish. I did not see big fish this time – too many nets around.

This is my latest and simplest had driven modification of Ice fishing sonar tackle working in SI mode:

And this is a link to video showing how it works in ice two feet thick:

I wonder why the YouTube video is labelled SI? That is a DI transducer, and locator and He even references DI two or three times in the beginning of the video. Would have been interesting to see SI in a situation like this. I know when scanning in a boat beside a layer of ice my screen becomes almost unreadable with all the ice edges returning hard returns. But as deep as this guy is putting the transducer an SI would probably work well. It should be easy to pinpoint structure like he is with greater accuracy than DI. I might have to try something like this my self.

How about dropping a 360 down there???!!!

Vik references SI because he has the DI xducer "aimed" to the side ... And then manually "Sweeps" the DI xducer to create his "one of a kind" SI images ...

Piezoes do not have directional identity ...other than which direction the emitted pulse is "aimed" ...

Manually "pointing"'the piezo at the intended target area ...can be user designated ... (regardless of what sonar companies and their operation manuals recommend)...

I understand how he is doing it and it is a great idea. I have done it on soft water just messing around. However, It is still DI technology at work. Not condemning the idea at all. Just a little misleading.

    Good job.

One more video -this is my very first and short video I did a couples of days ago. It explains why I call it SI mode: because DI mode sees only that small stone on the top, but SI mode sees that stone and that tire 10 feet aside (sorry for bad quality):

By the way, if the is no fish under ice just garbage on the bottom it sees that garbage only, but if there are a lot of fish the tackle shows all that fish two and more depths around:

A few new screenshots from today’s ice fishing. I drilled four holes in different places and knew everything what is going on under ice their:
