I occasionally found that Green Palette in 2D window gives very natural Side Images with white background and dark shadows when using SI transducer on 385 ci DI unit:

Conventional DI and SI units provide white background and white shadows (negative view),
    and the picture looks unnatural:

Suspended fish is seen much better on white background than on black background, and I think it is make sense to provide DI and SI modes with Green Palette as well.

    That's interesting Vik...

I use the green SI pallette sometimes on bright sunny days...

I rarely use DI...but I will have to experiment with this...

You see Rickie, the green 2D pallette and the green SI pallette are not the same - green 2D have white background and even small black fish dots are seen much better on white background (see above) than green SI fish dots on black backgroud:

    Vik,
You can set the Background menu to the Black setting and make the 2D Green palette look just like the Green palette for the Si and Di sonar.

    Greg,
I do not have my unit under my hand at the moment, but I think that Background menu cannot change black SI background to white. The only SI Palette with white background is "Inverse". It shows black fish dots on white background pretty clear, but the objects with negative white shadows on bottom background look unnatural and hardly recognizable.

Blue, green, brown ets fish dots on black SI background do not look so clearly like black dots on white background that I offer and already got. On my screen shot even 2 inch bait fish can be seen quite distinctly:

The only shortage of 2D Green Palette is white dots on bottom background when no signal at all – actually they should be black. This can be easily fix by slight program change – when no signal below bottom line show it black.

Okay I think I got it now:
You want to be able to have a white background on the Si/Di sonar Views just like the 2D sonar has.

Yes, exactly. If to look at Lowrance and Humminbird side imaging screen shots that are in Internet 99.99% of them are with black background - i.e. water is black….why?:

Only big colored dots and stripes can be seen on black background. To see white water column is more habitual and informative.

I watched some fish from a lake bank with DI transducer attached to the end of 12 ft fishing rod:
