Yes, I get mine from Ebay. You want the ones listed as FAT. And you need them at least 8 inches long.

I dope the wraps with epoxy and let them harden. Then I apply a couple of coats of Spar Polyurethane.
This coating is very durable and resists UV damage. The quills are very tough themselves, but this
provides a very good protective coat. Your floats will last a long time.

Nothing can compare with the bite sensitivity of a quill float.

On the terminal end use a 1/64th jig or a pinmin. Get your hot sauce ready!

What do you use for the rings on the bottom of the quills? I have some wing feathers to try out, what weights do you use to balance the quills?

I use light gauge stainless wire. I make one wrap around a nail and cut off the tag ends to about 3/8".

I rig them as standard slip floats. I place a split shot about 6 inches above the hook. Various sizes depending
on the length of the quill. From around BB size to a about the size of a small pea.

I use small paper clips for my wire loop, same technique as wire, wrap around a small diameter nail to form a loop.Cut off the wire tags ends, leaving enough to glue and wrap with thread
