    Default Crappie vs. Walleye

During the winter, I enjoy fishing for walleye and saugers in our Oklahoma rivers. I have to thow this topic out there for debate. Which one tastes better. I'd have to go with walleye/saugers.

I wouldn't say one is better than the other. Walleye/sauger/saugeye tend to be a bit fishier and have a bit more texture than crappie in my opinion.

    Both are excellent fare.

Beats me!!! I eat them both. Granted they have a different texture but I enjoy them all including cold water bluegill. They all are great next to fried taters

Only walleye i have eaten was in Canada, caught in cold water and eaten that night. Never had anything better!

I will fry and eat either one and rub my belly, both are great eating, one is hard to get a hook in but makes bigger fillets.

I like em both. The texture is different - my wife likes the Walleye texture best (which is a good thing for me). I used to fish Tuttle Creek and Milford in Kansas frequently and have taken several large Walleye there. A nice thing about them is they fillet like they had a zipper in em.

Because I've never tasted Walleye before, I can't really say. But I've had people tell me Walleye are very good, even better than crappie.

I lived in North Dakota for about 10 years, and I will have to say there is nothing better than a walleye caught from the frigid water in the winter. Although you have to drill through 3 foot of ice to get to the water .

That being said, my wife was born and raised in North Dakota and crappie (the Oklahoma one's) are the only fresh water fish she will eat...
