Thread: Super excited and just had to post it

Man that bug has been going around.

Being an an aluminum boat and if you are going to install the charger directly to aluminum instead of wood or something, make sure you isolate not only the charger from directly touching the aluminum but the mounting screws as well. Many of people just isolate the charger with plastic washers and not the screws. The problem with this is the screws are touching the charger which are also touching the aluminum. I have pics posted of what I did in the main forum in the onboard charger thread.

I put plywood sides in storage area of that boat whenever I did the original restoration.

Well didn't get it all done today but got most of it done. Got the Trolling motor and TM battery mounted and hooked up. Not happy about where the TM battery had to go but the thing is huge. Both fish finders and transducers are installed. Still need to mount and wire the charger (not looking forward to running the wiring) and get a new battery for the starter and main power. Also thinking about on offset seat pedestal up front to make some room for the foot control.

Scott brought the POS out today for maintenance and a new back floor section. Took us a good portion of the day, but was fun and good company. He can get mo specific.

The USS Dino's Barge (formerly known as the USS POS) had developed a leak that was causing me to spend more time pumping water out of the boat than fishing. With age and a little rot causing the plywood to sag the rear seat base had lowered enough to cut about 3/4 of a hole in the bottom of the boat and the once the base started to cut through the aluminum the pedastal end was able to push the aluminum down about a 1/2". So Reaper was gracious enough to move his beautiful Ranger out into the rain and bring the Barge inot the shop for removal of the rear plywood floor, a doubler over the damaged aluminum, and a new composite rear floor. I'm very happy with how it came out, and had a great day with a good friend teaching me how to do the job.

I did run into a slight problem when I went to the lake today to test the patch.

There are 2 ramps there but if I miss one there are really nasty rocks on both sides and between the ramps.

ya know you gotta watch that Reaper fella REAL close cause he is liable to teach you something about rebuilding a boat. He,truly, is a wizard when it comes to carpentry. He is a carpenter you know, in more ways than one. I wish I lived closer to him, then I might see him more than once every 2 years.
