I went out Thursday evening to the blue creek area. Couldnt find any shallow but picked up 18 keepers in 18 to 20 fow with the bite at 10-12 fow on minnows. The biggest 2 were 14 inch and leaking eggs. The later it got the smaller they got. Im thinking the females were moving up shallow as it got darker. Wish i could have gone out early this morning.

Got a report from a friend who fished today. They caught two limits of decent fish in same spot. I'm launching my boat in the middle of the night and will see what's up.

It looks like they are still out there, just not in the bank shallows.

From looking at the lake level graph, the lake has been falling since April 29th thru today May 7th.

If it stablizes, surely the bank fishing will improve.

Keep the reports comin'........ Hope to hear good ones from everybody !

Fished Saturday from 6:30 to 2:00. I wanted to go to Winganon but the wind was pretty strong early. Decided against it and of course the wind calmed down. Had pretty good luck anyway I caught a limit of keepers and at least that many throwbacks. Crappie were biting good early and pretty steady the rest of the time. Seemed like I caught an even amount on both jigs and minnows. I caught more big fish on jigs. I tried 2 different colors, orange and chartreuse tube with an orange head, and licorice with an orange head, licorice caught the most fish. The crappie were suspended at about 12 feet in 21 foot of water in brush. Caught more females than males and the females all had eggs. The males were sure pretty all dressed up in there black suits.

Good to see you again on the water Kevin. I started at 5 a.m. I was letting the 10" fish go and trying to keep 11" or better. I caught at least 4 small fish to each keeper. I fished all day and around 5 in the afternoon, I only had 25 in the livewell and decided to start keeping 10" fish. I used minnows and jigs, fish shallow near the bank in a cove from 10" below a bobber to 24" below. All my fish were caught in less than 4' of water. Water temp was 66 degrees. Fish deep like Whisperer, or fish shallow like me, either way, make sure brush is involved. I lost two fish right before dark that went around 14". I totaled 34 for the day, but could have had a limit easy due to throwing back several 10" fish earlier. The spawn should last awhile longer due to fish still being caught deep.

Now's the time for the part time fishermen/women to go fill their freezers. Go get some!

Made it out again on Sunday for a quick trip and then back home to charcoal steaks for the wife for mothers day. Fished from 6:30 to 11:00 and caught 28 keepers and at least that many throwbacks. Bite was little slower today, I had to adjust the depth a few times and move the boat a couple of times before I got it just right. The bite was better after 9:00 than it was early. Minnows did a little better than jigs today. It seemed like the bite got better once the wind picked up a little. Anyway I had a good time and got more fish for the family and the freezer.

Why don't you plan on making it early next Saturday morning? You can go with me and the
only catch is that you have to bring something to take the fish home. I don't need them.
