OlJim: You mean they aren't running water out of the lake at the dam?

You can go there to get current up to date info on the lake levles and the ammount of flow out of the lake.

It seems like they are letting water out.

Looks like they only closed the gates for a short while... Sometime between 8-10.

I was just curious as to what he meant. I check the lake levels regularly and I didn't notice any change in the corps info for today. On taking a second look I see that there was a "blip" at 9am. I've seen that before and just chalked it up to a technology error.

    Pool Elevation = 644.89 feet.
New Gate Discharge was 0 cubic feet per second.
    New Gate Settings:
    All CLOSED

I crossed the dam this afternoon and it sure looked like they were shut off to me.

They must not have updated it when I looked at it earlier... the New Gate Settings part read something to the effect of no change in 4 days. That was for about noonish.

I went up to check on boat and just to get out of the house for a hour or so. The lake was as high as I have seen it since we bought the boat a month ago. Redbud looked like they were prepared for it to go a lot higher as they had installed temporary ramps to get to the docks when the water gets over the road. Another slip owner said they told him to expect a 2 ft. rise today but it didn't happen. Caney was running bank full at bridge on 169. It appears they have cracked the gates (1000cfps) now. We need about 10000.

They usually shut the gates down when the Caney is running high. They'll let the Caney start receding before they even begin to think about letting some out of Oologah. All that also depends on what Grand and the Arkansas is doing too. Oologah is like the step child of lakes and is strictly flood control. I'm surprised they even allow Red Bud to exist. Too bad the water is rising again though because the swimming area will be closed too. I don't see why they close the swimming area down. I am curious though.

So what do these Oologah crappie do when the water's rising or high? Most of the piles I've located were in 14 to 20 fow last week but I found some in 10-11 fow. If it hasn't risen more than 3 or 4 ft those shallower ones ought to be arount 14-15 fow. If I added right. I'm wodering if the crappie are scattered when it's rising and up or if they're tight to brush.

    Very confusing

    Oologah Lake

Under heading of "current reading" it says gate discharge is 0 at 0900 this morning but under the heading of "gate changes" it says the release is 4925
