I fished Tues and Wed, south end of lake. We caught fish both days but keepers were a little tougher. We kept 18 Tues and 14 Wed and brought our sunburns home as well. The fish we in brushpiles 14 to 16 fow. All on minnows. My girlfriend lost a really nice one yesterday right at the boat. I thought it was a bass at first but it was a slabber. We've found one pile that seemed to produce more than others and we spent most of our monniow on that pile. Some of these 2006 piles just seem to be gone or disintegrated maybe? Couldn't spot the brush on sonar at a number of the piles. The trick, like many of you have said, is finding the piles that are at the right depth. I also met a fishing buddy of crappie whisperer when I was gassing up. He was headed to work. I felt bad about that but I guess somebody had to work yesterday. LOL My work week starts today. Tim, not yesterday. I was using the hook on bottom with 2 split shot about 2 inches above the hook and holding it about 6 inches above the brush. I do sometimes double drop shot them. When I do that I use a 1/2 oz weight on bottom and tie one hook about 8 inches above the weight and the other hook about 12 inches above the lower hook.

Froggie, what kind of boat were you fishing out of? I saw some other people fishing. I was in my white ranger, trimmed in maroon and gray. If you see me say hello. I am getting ready to go hook up and go right now.

We fished today from 3pm till 7. We fished brush piles in 13-17 fow and caught fish on every pile. The fish were anywhere from 7 feet deep to all the way down in the brush. We used minnows and must have caught close to 175 fish, the size wasn't very good. We kept 36, mostly 10 inchers with the biggest being 12 inches. I had to really look hard to find brush piles in that depth range. Most of the brush piles I have fished in the past are too deep right now with the water being up 7 feet. I did try a pile in deeper water and never got a bite. If you can find a brush pile in 12-15 fow you will most likely catch a lot of fish.

I finally got hooked up on a sweet deal on a fish finder with a GPS on Ebay.
Its an Eagle Elite 480. Snagged it up for $87. It was labeled As Is on the site and labeled as not working. I thought I only bid .99 but apparently I bid $99. A pretty stupid mistake for a guy that sells on there for a living. Anways, I am glad I made the mistake because when I hooked it up, it works like a charm. Bought it from a seller who sells customer returns from major retailers. I am sure someone returned it because they thought they were seeing "fish" that were not there or some dumb reason. Anyways, didnt mean to jump off topic too much but was as happy as a little girl when I found it was working. Now I can plug all the brush pile waypoints in my GPS. Look out Oologah lake, here I come in my pimped out two man boat! LOL

Odie I was in a tan and blue Starcraft deep V 18ft with walk thru widshield. It's basically a walleye boat. We were mostly around blue creek, kite hill, and the island with the goats. I trying to find some shallower piles from the corp site too. Youre right, most are too deep right now. I generally fish tuesdays and wednesdays (my days off right now) and will look for ya out there.

So my dad and I are planning on heading up to Oologah from Tulsa Saturday morning with a bucket of minners and our little 15' canoe with 30# trolling motor. We are wanting to hit the brush piles but I don't have a lake map with the depth contours.

I was thinking about either hitting up the Brushpiles on the SW side in the coves but I can't tell if those would be in deep enough water or if it would be too deep.

So, given a top speed of a blistering 3mph and a general unfamiliarity with the lake and boat ramp areas, where would you guys suggest we put in to hit the targeted water depth with brush piles?

Also, if you see a green flat-backed canoe out there that'll be us.

I fished last night from 6:30 to 8:30. It was a last minute decision to go. I kept 25 or so over 10 inches. No really big ones. Like everyone else, must have caught a million small ones. Same deal, brushpiles in 15 fow with minnows. If I could find a brushpile in 10 fow I would fish it but I can't find any. I did find one last night in 12 fow while heading back in, I'm gonna try it next time.
