They ARE famous. Whole lot of people have taken to making them due to your inspiration. One guy sold 300 in one day last spring. And his were not nearly as professional-looking as yours, but they really worked.

Bill seems different every day. Some day's color don't matter at all and others I wasn't getting bites and switched from silver to pink or chat and started catchin fish. Guess that's why crappie fishin is so much fun. Yesterday silver was the best. Messed around with those short fish all day instead of looking for bigger ones. When you find big schools like that it's fun to try new things. Tried 10 different colors of bg baby shad and they would only bite 2 colors. There were so many of them I could feel them bumping into the line.

Fish were holding on a very small drop off yesterday. It only went from 20.5 to 23.5 ft. Doesn't take a huge drop off to hold fish.

This is the longest I have seen Kaw stable in over a year. Time to get after them.

Went to Kaw this afternoon and was suprised to see no other boats on the water. I'm guessing the 3' rollers generated by the 30mph winds might have been the issue.
Mainly looking around the main lake. Went north of Sarge Creek bridge for a bit, and saw my favorite brush pile is still intact. Caught some dinks off it. Keeping three for supper tonight. One 14" and two 12's.
The closer I was to the dam, the fewer fish I saw.

Now I have a question. Another member of CDC and I put in some major brush piles in some coves with creek channels running from 8' down to 22'. Trees that ran from the bottom to within 8' of the surface thinking the crappie would move up and down them as water temps got warmer and colder.
They have proved to be a total bust over the last two years. Spent three hours fishing them today. Minnows and jigs. Not even a hit, and the lowrance just showed dinks.
I have all my luck on piles in open water, not coves in the winter periods.
Water temps in the cove was 44, temps in the main lake 42.
My mind is telling me to not put in brush piles in coves for winter fishing.
    CDC says?

Dennis the food (shad) run the channels and drop offs of the main lake in the winter. Have seen them in certain coves in the winter but the bluecat pushed them into it. Crappie are following the shad. No shad kill again this winter and there are millions of them. Gonna be interesting to see how it effects the fishing.

I figured they had to be in open water structure. Those pesky 3' rollers kept me out of the main lake. Thanks Tim!

Anybody fish kaw this week? Wondering if it's worth a trip tomorrow or if I should explore Keystone.
