I was out there this Friday night until about 12:00 am. No luck at all. Fished mostly by the camp ground beach area and to the right of it. I'd like to try to figure this night time bite out some. Sounds like fun. And what are the z-man baits? I love the Keitechs but what are the glow one that was mentioned?

On long wide shallow areas like the campground beach, fish have a hard time cornering prey...if you fish this non-traditional feeding flat, you have to find some kind of cover if it exists.
All of your predators will be feeding at night, the best areas are deep water drop-offs surround by a shallow flat...CJ has flats in the middle of deep water and others that are surrounded on 3 sides by deep water.
Fish drive prey out of the deep onto the flats which increases their chances of successfully feeding.

Zmanfishing.com is a line of fishing plastics that is ALMOST indestructible, with Good action (they float)...IMHO, their curly tails are the best out there, and they have Glow in the dark plastics also...I bought a Rapala glow ice jig charging box, to charge the glow curly tails at night.

That is a huge help. I was looking for the wrong kind of shallow flat areas. Thanks for the info.

Dale wanted to go out last night and then stop for a Milk Shake....he made a GOOD choice.
Crappie were biting good on anything Chartreuse from 7 til 9pm....as by the second picture every fish was feeding and choking on 3 and 4 inch Keitechs dyed Glow Chartreuse....the bite never stopped, we just left...never saw another soul fishing anywhere.
Caught ALOT of fish like the first pic...maybe only a handful of dinks!
Biggest was 13.5 but pic shows Dale's location...not doing that!lol

Went back out before the storms and fished from 5 til 8....the Crappie were on.
We had 2 of Dale's friend's and my buddy Pat, all of us were Keitechin' and wearing fish out...colors needed to be bright...they pounder them again...they were feeding good again.
Caught the biggest fish on the chartruese dyed craws....we would have easily limited on 11 and 12 inchers...Dale and I tied with a 12.5 incher....again, not many dinks.
My Athletic son decided to fall in, giving us all a good laugh...as many times as I have swam in CJ, I guess he gets it honest.lol
I kinda enjoying these last second trips with my boy....it'll be over soon when 3-a-day football practices start.

Yep, it's been fun...as an older parent, I've really learned to cherish everything he does and the time we spend together!
I'm just glad he is enjoying fishing again!

On father's day my son brought 2 of his kids (3 & 6) out fishing at EF for the morning. It was their 1st time fishing in a boat and the 1st time in maybe 10 years since my son came out to fish. From the time my son was maybe 8 or 9 we fished or hunted every weekend until his life as a teenage took over. (His twin sister hated it...she begged me not to make her go) Being that the grand kids were so young they seemed to get bored pretty quick and played with the minnows more than fished but my son was having a blast. I think all the memories of our past trips with me came back to the surface and he had a blast. I'm hoping we can do it again with just me and him for a few hours some day.
His normal recreation is kayaking, not the calm easy stuff he likes the whitewater stuff and travels around to 7 or 8 states just to do it. I just can't understand how he can travel to all this great smallie water without a fishing rod in your hand....I couldn't do it.

    I know what you're sayin!

I think younger people just have been exposed to too much "High Energy Stimulation" all of their lives...they have to keep moving, keep busy, do more, or it seems boring to them. They "Multi-task" every minute of the day and don't think twice about it! I guess they are just "adrenaline junkies"!

I told my son that one day he will find a need to try and relax, that adrenaline junkies always hit a wall....I told him some people get all stressed out and can't cope with life, so they turn to alcohol, some to drugs, or some just have a breakdown trying to deal with life's ups and downs....I said that at least with fishing you can go out and find quiet, be at peace, and think...or not think. And that is why fishing should always be a part of him....just to be able to relax and have fun, when you need to escape the fast paced society and it's stresses that we have now!
Plus, I told him that I like spending time with him and making memories!lol
