Man, that's bad news, Snubby. It is difficult to envision why they put those ceramic bearings in something that turns that many rpm's in that much heat. Some engineer probably figured it would be a good selling point. Glad they only put them in that one year.

Since the powerstroke went away from the 7.3 they are junk, not near as bad since they came out with the 6.7 but they have their problems too.

Yep, and you would figured after they had a good many do the same thing they would have done a recall like Speck mentioned, but that wouldn't make for a healthy bottom line. It is a shame that a $3,000 fix would sky rocket to a 20 grand plus fix all over cheap ceramic ball bearings. The service guy tried to blame it on neglect, oil changes, fuel filters, air filters etc. I told him I have very detailed service records, those trucks have been handled with very good care. His response was this is a very rare case, I said just google the subject and it is not so rare at all! I should have changed the turbo out long ago, but shouldn't have to shell out 3 grand to replace something that ain't broke, just because a manufacturers goof up!

Wise move waiting to cool down before you call them. Don't allow their bad judgement to wreck you truck and your good name and character.

What ever happened to common sense customer service?? Majority of companies had rather protect their bottom dollar now, than to build that bottom line for the rest of their customers life. Sad days my friend, best of luck Snubby's, and give them everything you got and then some! Sick and tired of the political correctness!!!
