it is not a sim card it is a SD card, Gps maps are on it,if you get the fishing maps they are on there on one, the other use is for storing extra data and i use mine mostly to upgrade the software, right out of the box it will probably have an upgrade available.

The side imaging was blocked by the pontoons.
I was curios about this. I fish a pontoon also. Where do you have your puck mounted? Does the lower unit interfere withthe signal if mounted on end of pontoon? anything else i should know

If your pontoon has a spot to mount it low and at rear it will work good on one side restricted on the engine side unless you have trim and or tilt, i had mine mounted in front of the motor in the center and it was in line and blocked by the pontoons.

If you are barely moving you get a doughnut instead of the boat icon(and directional indicator) on the GPS. I'm no expert but this seems to make sense to me. Without sufficient speed there is no way to determine which direction you're moving in. It can be frustrating when you're within a few feet of a waypoint(say a brushpile) but not directly over it. In open water I have trouble getting right on top of them especially when it's windy. Shouldn't matter as much when you're trolling but when vertical jigging tight to cover it matters a lot.

I get the doughnut when under .5 mph or just drifting, if I'm not on a direct line. If I'm trolling a more or less straight line even at very slow speeds the directional indicator shows up.
You just gonna sit there an argue, or fish?

A tip locate the brus pile/structure at what ever speed works and toss a marker, then anchor over or near the marker. works for me.

What type of boat are you mounting on? I have an aluminum boat and I have had so many problems with my two depth finders. I have a 998 and a 798 but it looks like I am going to have to get a new transducer to shoot thru the hull. I'm using the 798on my trolling motor. If you have a bass boat you will likely not have too much trouble but depending on how deep it sets in the water will affect the performance. My suggestion is this. If you have a professional mount it and you have problems, you have someone to take it back to and get it right.
    Gotta go, fish on!
