    your are correct on your thinking if was a ST it would be a white Terrova !!! I have the 70lb riptide
    SP and upgraded to the iPilot and love it best move I ever made !!!! the only thing the Terrova will give you is the ability to use the footpedal and 10 to 40 more pounds of thrust depending on which one you get !!!!

    You don't change the main control board. On the auto pilot motor you remove the compass board to install the I-pilot board. I tried my modification on an auto pilot motor and it didn't work, not sure why. Since then I have modified 2 standard Powerdrives and it worked fine. I imagine you could buy a non A/P main control board and make the modification.

    If you have autopilot, the circuit in the TM head generates the steering voltage. If you remove autopilot, you loose the steering voltage. In the non autopilot control, the steering voltage comes from the power control circuit.

    The non autopilot control is why Shellbacks arrangement works.

    I have a PD V2 (no auto no nothing)so I shouldn't have a problem changing to I-pilot correct?

    no, but if you want to use the foot pedal you either have to reverse the process of installation or have Cane Pole make you one of his switches.
