Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought the "new" mandates stated they are not required by law to even tell us it's E15. I have an older Black Max that doesn't even care for E10. Having said this, I believe there's going to be a lot of "newer" motors sold in the not to distant future, probably about the same time as that $10/lb hamburger comes around.

It is certainly separately labeled down in Iowa (as E85 there) and up here in Minnesota, and it better be everywhere else, too, because it is not approved even for all cars, especially the older ones, and that includes my Monte Carlo.

If your state is sloppy about that kind of product labeling, you need to get them on with the correct program. That information should be posted on the pump itself. Licensing of the pumps is a state function; so that is why you need to make sure of your own state.

Could be a more local thing since a lot of my news comes from a local internet source. The E85, we had a couple stations until the E10 came, now we have none. But, here in KS, we have at least a dozen ethanol plants, maybe more now. We have little water and we're using it up quickly to make ethanol, cattle herds are down, and talk of limiting pork producers water resources. Stuff is bad IMO. I just recalled a big stink around here about the pumps being labeled E15 and something about federal mandates...., ah, politics.

Yeah. Be real careful about which level of government is responsible for the regs when you point fingers and how old test data is. Most fuel regs like pump inspections and licensing is state and varies quite a bit on each side of all state borders.

A certain level of ethanol is mandated in many states at particular times of the year, since a little does burn cleaner resulting in less exhaust pollution and it does improve mileage and performance, at least in my older car, it sure does. That varies quite a bit from state to state, however; so the biggest responsibility in this is not federal.

Importantly though do not burn E15 (E85 in some places - same/same) in any engine that does not recommend it. And always look over the pump real carefully for how it is labeled. It should be there someplace or you should be looking to buy your fuel some where else that does label its gas.

E15 and E85 are NOT the same thing. The designation speaks for itself. E15=15% ethanol. E85=85% ethanol. States do have individual mandates that vary but labeling is standardized.
    I'd rather be fishing.
