I bought a G3 6 years ago. It has been perfect for me. I have not had any regrets. My brother has a Tracker and he likes his boat. It all depends on your budget, how and where you fish, and what you want. Good luck and good fishing!

Thought about the engine and rigging

    G3 - 100% Yamaha
    Tracker - 100% Mercury engine
Trinton - Looks like they steer you toward a Mercury

Me I'm a Yamaha EFI 4Stroke man - no more Mercury engines ever again for me
Something to consider if the included Mercury engine is 40hp or lower it might not even be a Mercury built / designed engine instead some no name branded w/ Mercury
Currently down to two from 11 boats a few years back - G3 17ft V172 wide body, and G3 20ft Pontoon - They are OK to good quality fit and finish
Sure some are better and many are worse - GREAT engines when taken care of

I bought a new Lowe Stinger duel console last year, couldn't be happier. Lowe already has the seat mounts for spider rigging, the boat is very stable when one person is up and moving around plenty of storage. Wife really likes the duel console. If you get a chance try one out I think you would like it.

I think if I was you I would sit down and think about what features you want on a boat. Placement of livewell, aerated baitwells, storage, motor, seating, etc. Then i would go out and look for as many of the features as I could find factory installed. Some you may have to do yourself later so look at what you are willing/capable of doing. Look for your boat that fits your needs and fishing style. It's a preference thing.

A used tracker is much cheaper than the other two. I had a 2006 pt175 with a 75hp and it was a good boat. Newer ones can be had without carpet which was the only thing I didn't like about it.

There are lots of great boats out there. Think about the features you want to have and research the boats. Somewhere out there is the perfect rig for you. My wife and I went through this last year and a few features that we wanted was a front live well, a low front deck that extended well toward the bow of the boat, a heavy gauge aluminum hull and 2 across seating on the bow. We decided on an Excel 1860 and after several months saw a boat add on a boats for sale site. Our boat was not the boat featured, but in the background of the picture was the nose of another boat. As it turned out, it was a brand new 2012 boat and the dealer said "I've had this boat almost 2 years and just haven't been able to sell it in this market".

We bought the boat, I rigged it myself and we wished we had done this years ago. It fits my wife and I perfectly and is a joy to fish out of. Good luck in your search and I know when you find the one for you, you will love it.

I bought a Tracker 175 TF last summer. I love the boat. I got the coastal edition with vinyl floor and it sure makes those catfishing trips easy to clean up. I have really been pleased with it so far. I have a 60hp Mercury 4stroke and she runs about 36-37 top speed. Good enough for me. I like the two livewells too.
