Default Getting a new boat and need advice to pick

I am going to get a new boat next month . This will be my first aluminum boat. I have the options down between a tracker , a triton x17c , and a g3. I am leaning towards the triton . Does anyone have any thoughts on this boat before I purchase it?

Never owned either of them. But, from what I have seen the Triton is the best built boat of the bunch.

It is the Cadillac, very nice and nicely built. All the lights bells and whistles on them. If u can afford the best, get the best. In the long run it works. Out.

When you look real close at them you will find the fit and finish on it is much better than the others. More quality in all the things that are attached to it. Lots of reading and talking to owners of different kinds of boats. Discussing the things you find under the out side skin when you get into them. My WarEagle is a tough boat and very well built but would say the Triton is probably better on the workmanship side. I have seen the inside of some trackers and not very impressed with their quality control and build processes. Have seen very few G3 boats but didn't impress me enough to buy one though a lot of folks that have them like them. Never heard anyone say they didn't like their Triton. Like hotPepper said get the best you can afford that suits your needs and be happy. Try not to buy and save a few bucks then regret it later.

Try to find some guys on here that are close to you, maybe get a ride in each one you are thinking about. Fishing from one is the best way to determine what is best for you. Patience is your best tool at this point. Don't buy any of them on a impulse. Figure out what you think you would like then start searching for good late model used. Lots of nice boats out there to be had for reasonable prices. And most have very little use on them. No matter which boat you select I would suggest you get a 4 stroke motor.

everybody makes a good boat, they all have good points and bad points.I have a G3 and it is a good boat, a great layout, there is more storage on it in one compartment than trition has in all of theirs just go look at the pic f each. Th G3 has dry storage which the others dont. It will handle a 70 hp yamaha which pushes the boat good and is on the smaller frame reducing weight. The bad thing about the G3 is you will get wet at times and the rise on the bow is not much and doesnt cut the water that good. Now if I was looking at a new boat I would have to look really hard at the lowe 195 stinger. takes a 115 , wide lots of storage. Im sure which everone you buy you will love it because who doesnt like a new boat

All are good boats, try to fish out of all three if possible, or a ride at least. While in the boat, try to imagine how you would fish out of it for your style of fishing, some layouts are better for some styles than others. I've got an 04 tracker PT175, and it can handle a 70 or 75, I've got a 60 2smoke, runs good 'nuff for me. I fish solo 99% of the time so there is plenty of room for me.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

I have a Tracker 175TX and love it. The third Tracker I have owned. There is a reason why Tracker is the number one best seller.

    Clarin,
I just went thru the same process you are going thru. I had picked out 4 boats and went and looked at all of them. Tracker,Lowe, Ranger, Triton. I looked at the tracker first and I really was not impressed, the fit and finish was not very good and the material used was not the highest standard. The tracker looked a lot more narrow in the beam. having said all of that ,it is still a good boat and if you are the kind of guy that only fishes 8 to 10 times a year like most people it would work fine. I just retired and planning on doing a lot of time on the water.
I went to Bunch Marine and Curtis had the other 3 boats side by side on the show room. Lowe looked very sturdy and well built but not as nice as the ranger or triton.
The Ranger and the Triton are the same boat, it's not that they look the same which they do it's that they are the same boat. The finish trim and console are nicer on the
Ranger, but and it was the killer. The swing away trailer on the Ranger sticks out 12 to 14 inches past the front of the boat. This made it too long for my garage and it was $3000 dollars more. I ordered the Triton.
As far as cost Tracker was the lowest, then Lowe, Triton, Ranger. You can get any of them under $20,000 depending on what you have installed.I upgraded the main engine and the trolling motor and the electronics so I went over my budget.
    Hope this helps.
