Hard to tell from the photo where it's leaking from. Can you see where it's coming from?
My motor has been on the transom saver for a few weeks ..when I dropped it down this weekend I notice some fluid leaking ... normal? 1977 evinrude 55. I'm unsure why this happened ..thanks guys!

That weep hole is where oil leaking from under a water pump on the driveshaft would possibly run out. You may need to remove the lower unit and have it resealed. While your at it change the water pump impellor. Any time I put my hands on an impellor I replace it as preventitive maintenance.

Are u sure it's not just unburnt gas/oil mix? Is it black or milky or amber? If it's black it's unburnt exhaust, amber it's lower unit oil, milky it's lower unit oil with water in it.

I had the water pump and I believe the impeller change last year.. sadly maybe 2hours on it since then .. first start up this year I changed the lower end lube .. possibly over filled it and its leaking it out when tilted? Didn't have this issue when it was stored vertically for a few weeks? Anyway to test this without breaking into the lower unit? Maybe wipe clean and store upright for a week? Thanks guys .. Sure, that's exactly what I would do. Wipe it clean and leave it hanging just like you were running it. I'm not that farmilliar with your model of motor but I don't believe the weep hole is an overflow for you're lower unit oil. I know mine leaks unburnt exhaust when I trim it all the way down and I'm thinking that's all this is. You can check your leer unit oil fairly simple. There should be two plugs on the foot of your motor that require a flat head screw driver. The upper one is the way you check the lower unit oil. When you take the plug out the oil level should be right there. If it's amber your good if it's milky white there is water in it.

And to check for water intrusion I always remove the lower plug only while over a clean drain pan. Any water will be low after storage and a few drops may hit the pan, and a momentary removal of the upper plug at this time will let any water run out very fast at first and then the oil will follow at a slower rate. Color will be off also. Gear oil has it's own smell and you may be able to wipe your finger on the drainage and smell and begin answering your own questions.

You cant overfill the lower unit. Remove both screws to drain. Fill from lower hole until dope comes out top hole. Insert both screws and lower unit is full. Sounds like some unburnt oil. Does your motor have oil injection or do you premix yuor gas?
