Never did either so can't say for sure, but I would think it would be better to pull cranks. I planned on pushing first, mostly due to having livescope and the area I fish has small deep water areas, which I figured would make pulling difficult due to having to make sharp turns often. May not be the case, as I haven't tried either, but didn't want to invest in line counter reels until I got a better idea. I'll probably end up pushing while practicing a stalking technique with single pole or casting to target.

Pushing cranks as I understand it uses weights to get the lines down in front of the boat using longer poles similar to spider rigging. It is useful when you need to turn sharply,
Stop or do some other maneuvering quickly. When pulling cranks line is let out until the cranks run at the desired depth. If you stop moving while those lines are out the back they will settle to the bottom of the lake. Sharp turns could cause the lines to tangle.

I started pulling cranks last summer and had an absolute blast. Now I can't wait for this summer just to do it all over again. I'd subscribe to pushing jigs and pulling cranks.
