    Default Crappie nibbles?

If crappie nibbles are all about scent, is it necessary to keep loading them onto the same jig after a while?
Seems the smell should be on there already.

    Thanks

You wouldn't need to "add" (externally or internally) Crappie Nibbles until the current one(s) are dissolved and gone. Yes, there may be some lingering scent from the residue left on/in the bait, but the effects would be diminished.

I sling them off the hook or they are plucked off by a greedy little bream long before they melt

I replace them when gone either by dissolving or as stated before a gill gets it. I keep 4-5 jars of em in the boat in 3 different colors ( green, white, and a multi-colored).

I have tried all three White, chartreuse, and pink/green. In my neck of the woods the chartreuse seem the best, and I keep two extra jars in the box besides the one I'm currently empytying...

I like them and the crappie likes them too. Nothing wrong with a little extra scent and taste to help the hook up. Just the smell of them let you know that the crappie will hit them. Well at $4.00+ a ounce that comes to $64.00 a pound the best steaks around don't cost that much. I just wish they weren't so expensive.

Be safe and good luck fishing

I have noticed that freshness does matter. I fished next to a guy jigging in a brush pile. We were using the same gear, bait, color, spot, etc. Everything was the same except for the nibbles. I was using an older jar and he was using a fresh one. He caught maybe 5 fish to every 1 of mine. I switched to his nibbles and started catching more fish. I have since tossed out my old jars of nibbles replacing them with fresh ones.

I ditched the crappie nibbles for gulp alive waxies several years ago. I’ll never go back. The waxies stay on even after catching several crappie and the little bait Steelers can’t get em off the hook . They come in a few colors and they last as long as there’s juice in the jar.
