There is something to it. But I would not let it be the reason I go out or not. I believe the barometer is a huge factor though.

When it comes to fishing... I believe the more avid of an angler you are the more variables you include into each trip. (i.e wind+barometric pressure+ temps+moon phase+water clarity+light penetration+etc...). These also interchange of course, which can change the impact on each variable individually, but if you really pay attention to the science, you could easily think about 32 different variables before you even make your first cast that will all have an effect on fishing success. Example: Moon phase, crappie are very light sensitive, so on sunny days and full moon nights, crappie are likely to feed all night in the northern natural lakes, but down south in the turbid water it won't have as much of an effect. New moon, crappie usually feed more in the day time... however if you're fishing under and light at night with a low approaching, you will likely have more success. If your fishing in the ocean, a super moon can really mess with the tides, so moon phase means a great deal in the ocean. A good rule of thumb is the clearer the water, the bigger then impact (in fresh water).

As a weekend warrior, I gotta go when I can. If i let those tables dictate when I go fishing, I may never go.

Thanks for all the replies. I fish when I can and that's usually about twice a week in moderate and cold weather. I ain't fishing twice a week in the summer, regardless of what the moon phase says cause it's too hot. LOL I figure we're about a month away from my 2-3 times a week again....

I do know for sure if you don't go you won't catch fish. Now I will look to see if the cows are laying down or feeding, but that won't stop me from fishing. Don
I don't mind sharing where I caught my fish.
Most was caught in their mouth.

I quit watching the moon tables, I worked myself into a funk watching them. I do adjust for high/low pressure. I go when I want to now.

I fish when I can and always found early morning and late evening the best. I never was much of a believer in the lunar tables for hunting and fishing until I was fishing tidal areas. Where I'm at I see about a foot to 1.5 drop in the river tide. It does seem to affect when the fish bite. Still I'm going early morning, late evening, and if the tide/lunar table says they're biting mid late afternoon, I'll try to be there then too.

Like Richard Gene says, " Go Fishing When Ya Can, "Cause It's GOOOOOOD Fer Ya!"...Like others have said, If I paid attention to the tables, I wouldn't go fishing at all. Not always able to go when it says it's good, but have still caught fish.
