so much talk about this may have to give it a try.

Tried it this weekend. Started with 1 bead between tip and first guide. It worked well. The bite was really soft and sometimes all you could tell was you heard the tick but not which rod. Eventually you could pick out the right rod. Partner has rigged for 20+ years and was impressed as well. I found that by moving back one guide I would not tangle around the tip as much. Really cool idea.

After fishing with Jeff (jigfisherrx) it dawned on me that having the rod positioned so the bead is dangling down as it is when using spinning rods will create a better sound. Jeff and I use baitcasters so the bead is on top of the rod. Might have to tilt it sideways, Jeff.
The best way to get to where you want to be in the future is to act like you are there TODAY.
I use bait casters....I put them in the rod holders upside down.....with the rod eyes in the down position it helps you set the hook better too
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.

Someone needs to invent a saddle for baitcasters. I have some 5500Cs on pistol grip poles. PIA, but I bet everyone knows this.

jigfisherx if your bead is wrapping around you rod tip you're not threading a separate line through the bead and tying it to the eyes. That's what keeps you bead from wrapping around your pole and from loosing it if you break your line. I have experimented on turning my eyes up, down and sideways and for my particular setup I usually run my eyes up. I will set my rods out and gently pluck the line at the reel and rotate the eye til I get the best sound. For me this is usually with the eyes on top. Every setup may be different..
Dropping the bead back between 2nd & 3rd guides solved the problem. Only a problem out at the tip with too much slack. I don't worry about loosing beads. They are cheap and I seldom break off in the rod as I will free spoil the line and pull by hand if I am hung up. I use bait casters so I guess I never felt the need to rotate the rod. Still a great idea and I'm sold.
ps I use 17lb mono and beads with small holes. No room for second line. I guess you use pony beads.
