I have a Jim Duckworth Float and Fly and B and M 8' Ultimate. I like both of them.

Same thing here. I probably fish with these 2 rods more than any others that I have when it comes to slip bobber presentations. I've saw in the BnM advertisement the comment about the Ultimate being super stiff. And I wouldn't say that at all....

I got a new 8' ultimate and agree it's not super stiff imo. It does have the larger casting eyes and a shorter butt. Only 7.5" of cork handle behind reel seat so as not to interfere with beer belly as badly.

We have our new BoneHead 8' rods in if your interested. They are carbon fiber two piece blanks designed by us. Custom cork split grip handle. Can also use braid with our rods!

Speaking of Cabela's, I have a 7'6" Pro Guide, I think medium lite action. I don't see this specific rod (PGS763-2) on their site now but they do have a similar rod. With a Pflueger President 6925, 6lb XL (best casting line, ever) and a Mr. Crappie weighted torpedo slip float over a jig and split shot, I can get some serious casting distance. This whole rig comes in under your rod budget.

Take a look at the Okuma Celilos. They are all priced under $35 at FishUsa.com and they are quality made. They range in size from 4.5 to 8ft. I absolutely love mine.
