Those are some very good points. Like I said earlier, I fish by myself alot, and sereral years ago I got in tired of having the kill switch on my wrist so I started clipping it on my life jacket. That way I have my life jacket on if I'm running and my hand is free. Works for me so... There are several others regs I don't agree with, but I can't afford to go against the grain.

Another thing on the new boating regs, I duck hunt almost everyday and we use a Go-devil mud motor and alot more of them are out there now than years ago. They ARE tiller handle motors and are definately trickier to operate. This my have something to do with the state's descision.

Thumbs down no more dumb regulations

All these any new regulation accomplish is making sure less people participate.Im a grown man i dont want or need the government to manage my personal boat riding decision's-----thank you.........If some one is un intelligent enough to operate a go-devil with out a life jacket........falling in and drowning is there chosen destiny.....However,sitting down and operating a boat i have lived a handful of decades without drowning or coming close to it. Government needs to worry about pollution and the chemicals all these big company's put in "our" air and water.

It does not cost a nickel to put on a life jacket/kill switch or a seat belt. Why not be safe - the life you save may be yours or better yet mine.

i agree BULLFROG ,just another reg to protect me from me,if you are unsure of yourself on the water by all means a life jacket is in order.
just another reg to fine me if i forget to put it on,how about some speed limits on the lakes in louisiana, you take your life in your own hands ,in chicot lake where i fish because the big boats will not slow down .

I want to make some decision for myself........life jackets are a great thing and should be used........Our Louisiana Wild Life &Fisheries has enough issues to deal with if they would choose{like pollution and habitat}..Than to restrict me more are take more of my money!!!!!!!...The key is what they choose and some of their choices nowdays........STINK...stink..stinkIf i wanted goverment to make all my decisions for me i would move to RED CHINA!!!!!!!

    Cool Not Needed

I would like to add this..........Here in Louisiana Most of our game is gone thanks too pine forest plantation and other factors............The saying the ducks dont come here no more..holds alot of TRUTH...Our WL&F does pretty close to nothing for small game...It may be Time to make some CUTS....I see very little need for THE Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries as it now exists! I Think its A very big expense for our state and its PAST PAST PAST Time we take a hard look at this government agency...And make Some VERY BIG CUTS and some very permanent cuts...This government agency does not do enough for sportsman in a positive way.......not nearly enough........If the only thing the WL&f is do is figure out new ways to FINE us..........lets put a end to this waste of tax payer money.................Remember Everybody We Foot The bill!

Well all is well and good eveytime you arrive back at the dock safe and sound with out wearing pfd and kill switch you have cheated death or injury one more time. Poke your chest out and say I've never needed them.
Now here is where it becomes every tax payers concern or business. When you are laying in the hospital hurt, in a comma, head injury, etc. with none or not enough insurance to cover you. Then the state (taxpayers) are paying your hospital bill doesn't matter if you are run over by your own boat, didn't have your helmet on riding motor cycles, or just didn't think you needed that seat belt.
As for the 911 there were over 3000 human beings killed on that day by people that don't and never deserved to take a breath of air.

I think a bigger deal is being made of this than should be. I mean I grew up with several people that are now Game Wardens and nearly any game warden will tell you they aren't worried about that BS. Heck in the boaters safety class I took the GW teaching it told us that they aren't going to look too hard at the max HP allowed for your boat unless your grossly over. This is another one of those little laws that will for the most part looked over except on weekends of major events and such. Unless your just plain rude or operating your boat in an unsafe way I wouldn't worry much about it. You may get a warning but I doubt many will write tickets.

I would like to say that if you haven't taken the boaters safety course, I highly recommend it. Since many of your sons and/or grandsons will be taking it, just sit in with them. It's free, and takes just a few hours. You can never know it all and never know enough about anything, imo. So I always take classes on anything I find interesting. Just a suggestion

But you can't blame the gamewardens and you can't blame the entire LWF as a whole. It is a handful of people that make the calls. Majority of the people working for them are no different from anyone else. Just working for a living. You make those big cuts and those permanent cuts and I can guarantee it won't make a lick of difference, just put a bunch of techs and little people out of the job. Too many chiefs and not enough indians as it is.

Eveyone's made some good interesting points but I don't agree with every single thing. I also want less government intrusion in my life. but I also try hard to follow the rules, what ever they are. I spent the first half of my life being a rebel and it brought mostly hardship on myself. One thing I do know, if I don't wear my seatbelt or life jacket, my wife and kids aren't likely to do so either. I know that each and everyone of us on here are expert drivers and boat operators, but it's been my experience that that other idiot driver or boat operator that crashs into me and mine through no fault of my own is the problem. In case that happens to me, again, I want my wife and kids buckled up and on the chance that they are knocked out of the boat, perhaps unconcious, I want life jackets on them so they have a chance of surviving the wreck caused by someone else totally beyond my control.
Most all of the game wardens and biologist I have known have been very helpful and good people. Those guys don't take that job for the pay. Most of them love the outdoors and the very same things we do.---Pooch
